Know Sweat Internships

What is a Know Sweat internship?

The purpose of Know Sweat Service Projects is to challenge junior and senior high students to demonstrate their faith in God and love for Christ by meeting the physical needs of a neighbor.

At a Know Sweat week, students and their sponsors serve the elderly, low-income, and disabled by completing free home repairs and working with local agencies and ministries. This includes painting, cleaning, minor construction and assisting those agencies with their maintenance needs and outreach to the community. In partnering with agencies, work may involve distribution of food, serving the homeless, and sorting clothing and essential toiletry items. Students and sponsors join together in the evenings for Connection, a time for the church to come together to celebrate what God is doing during a week of Know Sweat. There is a time of singing, a message which connects God’s Word with what students are experiencing on the worksite, and some interactive elements.

As an intern, you will be involved with all aspects of the Know Sweat weeks. You will work alongside individual church groups at various project locations during the days, and then help facilitate the evening programming.

Know Sweat internships are open to young adults (college age). Those selected must have a commitment to serve Jesus Christ and desire to spend nine weeks during the summer serving Him by using their gifts and talents throughout the United States.

What will we do?

Throughout the summer, you will be challenged physically, mentally, and spiritually.

While in the office, you will learn about what we do and take part in preparation for the summer. There will be a total of about a week and a half spent in the office at the beginning of the summer.

During the time you are on the road, you will help drive between locations. Upon arrival, you will be setting up for the week to come. This includes setting up the stage, preparing the worksites for the students who will be working there, and setting up registration. During any given week you will be working alongside the groups that come doing anything from painting, demolition, pouring concrete to framing walls, and dry wall. Although there are many things to accomplish at worksites, one of the main priorities is to ensure the safety of those attending the week and to be Christ-like.
