General MOVE FAQ's

When does registration open?

MOVE will begin accepting registrations Monday, November 16, 2009.

Who should attend MOVE?

Those students going into the ninth grade (graduated 8th graders) through 2010 graduated seniors. Youth workers are also invited and encouraged to attend. The more the better.

What is your required student to leader ratio?

In agreement with each venue, MOVE requires 1 adult for every 10 students. Finding adult sponsors for your students is not a responsibility of MOVE, and attending MOVE without adult sponsors is not an option. If you have both male and female students, you must provide male and female sponsors.

How can I register my group?

To register by mail, print and fill out a registration form on our registration page. Please send it along with one church check for the deposit amount (# registering x $50) to the address provided on the form.

You can also register online and pay your deposit with an electronic check.

Is my $50 deposit refundable if my students drop out?

If the MOVE team is notified of the cancelation prior to 30 days before the event, you will receive full reimbursement. For example: for an event beginning June 14th, 2010 the deposit is refundable until May 15th, 2010. On May 16th, 2010 deposits are no longer refundable.

Deposit refunds will be made by transferring funds paid to the remaining balance of the group, transferring funds to a future event, or returning funds to the group if no remaining balance exists.

Deposits are non-refundable, cannot be applied to the group balance, and cannot be transferred to another group within 30 days of the event.

When is the deadline to pay my full balance?

Payment in full for all students and adults must be postmarked or processed through online registration at least 14 days prior to the beginning of the event. Payments received less than 14 days prior to beginning of the event will be assessed a $60 late fee per registration. For example, if you registered 20 persons for MOVE and missed the 14 day deadline, your total balance will increase (# registered x $60).

If I have a student who drops out one week before the event, do I still have to pay for that student?

Yes. Regardless of when payment is made or the number of people who actually attend the event, the full registration amount of all registered people with the group as of 14 days prior to the event will be due to Christ In Youth.

Can I register a student one week before the event?

Yes. Additional students or adults can be registered at any time (if space is available). Those registered less than 14 days prior to the event must pay a late fee of $60 per person.

If I pay in full before I arrive, then one of my students drop out, do I get refund?

No Refunds or transfers will be made after payment in full is due (14 days prior to the event). If a group reduces its total registration count after full payment is due, the full registration price will be retained by CIY. For example: if a group registered and paid for 20 people, but arrived at the event with 18, the group would not receive a refund for the two people that did not come to the event.

Does MOVE have a waiting list?

When a MOVE event reaches capacity, groups wishing to register for those events or groups wishing to add to their total registration will be notified of the event being at 100% capacity and be placed on a waiting list for that event if they so choose.

A deposit check must be received to be placed on the waiting list, but will not be cashed until the person(s) are added to the event.

I see that MOVE has an "Extended Recreation" day and "Skip-A-Meal", am I responsible for coordinating lunch, and or off site activities?

Yes for both. The money that is saved from skipping just one meal helps fund MOVE International. It enables students from all over the world to attend MOVE events and train youth workers to amplify Christ's call on student lives. MOVE is not only in the United States, MOVE is global.

Extended recreation is a time where you and your youth group can enjoy the city in which MOVE is located. We want to promote community on campus, along with giving your group ample freedom to enjoy the great opportunities surrounding the city. So go have some fun!
