Prayer of the Week

Our Engage team at Christ In Youth believes that it is important to consistently engage your students’ hearts and minds with what is happening around the world. We also believe in the power of prayer. We have created a free weekly resource that you can use as a programming element during your youth group meeting times. You can also visit this site regularly for updates to see how God is answering our collective prayers to affect change in the hurting places of the world. Would you join with us in prayer? Would you join with us in engaging a generation of students’ hearts and minds with what is happening around them and the power of their God to do something about it?

PRAYER OF THE WEEK SEPT. 11, 2017Sep 11

Hurricane Irma

PDF Download

Pray this prayer:

Jesus.
We come to you with weary hearts. We are still praying for those in Southern Texas and Louisiana as they recover from Hurricane Harvey, and now Lord we pray for those affected by Hurricane Irma. So many islands, so many cities throughout Florida – the devastation is wide and in many ways overwhelming. Lord, for those who have lost loved ones, who have lost all that they own as a result of this storm, would you draw close? We pray that you would be with them through the long journey of recovery that is in front of them.
Lord, for those who were anticipating more severe damage and those that were spared from the worst of this storm, we thank you.
For storm surges that have breached the walls and flooded cities, we ask for your mercy and for recovery work to begin as soon as it is safe. We specifically pray for those who suffer from depression and anxiety who were affected by this storm. We ask that you bring your peace and your calm to their hearts and their minds.
Jesus, there is so much work to be done – rebuilding, rescuing, restoring what has been lost. Would you lead and guide those efforts? Would you be with your people and would you be with your Church as they both recover and help others to do the same?
Jesus, we are crying out to you. Lord, hear our prayer. Amen.
